Occupy Til I Come

This morning at daybreak I hear the Lord say, "Occupy til I come".  Looking up that verse, I find it in Luke 19:11-13.

11. "And as they heard these things, He added and spoke a parable, because He was close to Jerusalem, and they thought that the Kingdom of God should appear immediately.  12. And He said therefore, a certain nobleman went into a far country to receive for Himself a Kingdom and to return.  13.  And He called His ten servants and gave them 10 pounds and said unto them, "occupy til I come".

Interesting that Jesus spoke this to His disciples as He was about to enter Jerusalem on a donkey and begin the countdown to His exit from Earth.

For me, this is more confirmation of our assignment, that we are to manage His earthly estate (this earth) until He comes back again. "Thy kingdom come Thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven."

His estate IS ours to maintain and that means, in proper management, that we evict any who would seek to take illegitimate possession of what belongs to Him. With this and other verses, I am gaining more and more understanding of His parables in these days as we are called to exercise our divine dominion under His delegated authority through proper management, powerful defense, and victorious advancement of his Kingdom here, not sitting on the sidelines waiting to be supernaturally taken out.

To that point and understanding of our role in Kingdom advance here on earth, is the reminder that, "on THAT day" (of His return), a separation will occur between those serving the Master and those who are doing their own thing: Two women we be grinding at the mill, one will be taken, and one will be left behind.  We have been misled into some wrong thinking. The truth is that the day will come when least expected just like the flood of Noah's age, BUT the ones that were taken were the wicked and the ones left behind were the righteous not the other way around. Matt 24:40-44:

40. "Then two men will be in the field: one will be taken and the other left.  41. Two women will be grinding at the mill: one will be taken and the other left.  42.  Watch therefore, for you do not know what hour your Lord is coming.  43.  But know this, that if the master of the house had known the hour the thief would come, he would have watched and not allowed his house to be broken into. 44.  Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect."

Back to Luke 19:

The interesting warning is that the "citizens" of the land, hated him but it was His servants that were given the directive to manage the estate until His return and were given the resources to do so.

Their work was then assessed and rewarded UPON His return, for how they had used the resources they had been given to take care of and maintain the Master's estate. (His Kingdom on earth).

14.  But the citizens hated him and sent a message after Him saying, "We will not have this man to reign over us!  15.  And it came to pass, that when He returned, having received the Kingdom, then He commanded these servants to be called to Him, to whom He had given the money, that He might know how much every man gained by trading.

After He handed out the rewards and rebuked one for his failure to invest what was given, the parable end with this:

27.  "But those enemies of mine, who did not want that I should reign over them, bring them here and slay them before Me."

There is so much to ponder and apply to our assigned role to go forth, subdue, and advance the Kingdom of Heaven here on earth in these days as we await the return of our King.  Let none be found hard hearted toward Him, but ever ready and willing to Occupy Til He Comes!

The Holy Spirit is Calling.  Can you hear Him?
